It's sort of recognizable as you fly around the place. Nicely drawn textures with colours that suit the game and relatively distinctive town and forest placement. For my taste, the makers of Slovakia got it about right for Il2.
Everything is too mixed - too much 'information' in the textures, the ground objects don't really stand out (that's the old draw distance problem, too). It looks really good high up but I find it really hard to identify things to navigate by generally, and of course down low the spell is broken. Just went back to IL2 tonight after quite a long while away playing RoF (in my rare spare moments) and found the photorealistic terrain on some new maps really distracting. Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll check out those channel maps later, when I'm done jawdropping with my new graphics.
